Chapter 12
Summary
- In chapter 12 of "Compromise: A Librarian’s Tale", a girl named Livira is learning to read and write through the help of four trainees, Arpix, Carlotte, Meelan, and Jella
- Arpix is a serious child who Livira is trying to make laugh, and Carlotte is a new friend of Livira's who seems to believe in library magic
- Livira is among the last remaining in the dining hall, having eaten a satisfying meal for the first time in a while
- She discusses elements of the library, such as it never becoming dark and asking about the scars on her own face and wrist
- It is revealed that Livira was involved in violent incidents outside the library and she is trying to adapt to the library's non-violent and studious environment
- At the end of the long day, Arpix takes Livira to her own room, which she is amazed to have
