Chapter 70

Summary

• Evar races home and sees that Livira is dead; she had been trapped within the Assistant forever.
• Evar runs through the remains of the fight scene, shouting Livira's name, surrounded by dead skeer creatures and Livira's destroyed remains.
• Grieving, he falls beside her body, and howls in sorrow.
• Livira's ghost is apparently present, hearing Evar's cries, and is with Malar, who is questioning Evar's grief.
• Livira reaches out to Evar from her ghostly existence, telling him she still needs saving.
• Safety instincts keep Evar alive as more skeer creatures arrive on the scene but he is not hopeful for survival after the death of Livira.
• Suddenly, Evar's siblings Clovis and Kerrol swoop into the fight and help to defeat the skeer. They are injured but survive.
• Kerrol gets both of them to walk away from the scene of fight, and tells Evar that he knows where to find Livira.
