Chapter 28

Summary

• Livira and Arpix are on a mission to deliver books to the laboratory from Salamonda's kitchen.
• During their journey, Arpix and Livira discuss about the unusual conversation she had with Deputy Yute who urged her to read and write fiction for pleasure, rather than for knowledge.
• Livira chooses not to share Yute's theory about the library being cursed, considering Arpix's fanaticism about the library.
• They realize the town Tronath is on fire, allegedly caused by "sabbers" or dog-soldiers, which leaves them in disbelief.
• They are attacked in an alleyway by a man with a knife but are saved by Malar, a man from Livira's past.
• Malar informs Livira that the people of Dust are camped outside the city walls and aren't allowed entry by the King, who labels them as thieves and rapists.
• As they continue their journey, Livira muses about the importance of the library, its knowledge, and the manipulations of this knowledge by King Oanold to spread convenient lies.
• Arpix shares an interesting theory named "quill search" with Livira, which suggest writing the book you are looking for rather than hunting it down, arguing the infinite nature of the library.
