• Xaden looks after Violet when she awakes, helping her hydrate and explaining to her that she has been poisoned and may experience memory loss or delayed memories due to brain damage.
• Xaden has an important conversation with Violet about his involvement in a secret rebellion and its impact on their relationship. He confesses his love for the first time, expressing regret and guilt for not telling her sooner. He vows to spend every day of his life trying to mend her trust in him.
