CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Summary
- The protagonist, Violet Sorrengail, has bonded with one of the deadliest dragons in Navarre named Tairneanach.
- Tairneanach saves Violet from falling and teaches her how to properly ride him. Violet struggles to hold on at first but eventually gets a grip on him and learns how to maneuver.
- Tairneanach tells Violet that she has to strengthen her legs to better hold on while riding him.
- Violet observes other riders completing trials of dips and turns with their dragons. She is nervous about doing these stunts but is able to complete them successfully with Tairneanach's help.
- Violet is overwhelmed upon being chosen and bonded with Tairneanach. She questions her worthiness but Tairneanach assures her that he chose her because she saved a smaller creature with ferocity and courage, traits that he values.
- Violet learns that Tairneanach can read her thoughts. This evokes mixed feelings in Violet; she's not pleased at the complete loss of privacy but also finds comfort in knowing she will never be alone.
- Violet also bonds with a golden dragon named Andarnaurram despite not knowing why or how this happened.
- Violet walks to the roll-keeper to have her name recorded along with her bonded dragons' names. Her mother and others around her are shocked when she tells them that she has bonded with two dragons: Tairneanach and Andarnaurram.
- All hell breaks loose as Violet reveals she's bonded with two dragons, an abnormal and extraordinary occurrence.
