CHAPTER SIX
Summary
- The protagonist, Violet Sorrengail, gets injured during a training session and is carried to the Healer Quadrant by Dain Aetos, who has a romantic interest in her.
- At the healing center, a healer named Winifred prepares to call for a mender named Nolon, who has the rare ability to mend injuries instantaneously. Dain is against this idea and wants Violet to heal naturally so she can be moved to a safer training quadrant.
- The highly desired ability of mending is rare among riders and considered precious, but menders are still looked down upon as liabilities because of their fragility.
- Violet refuses to switch training quadrants because she doesn't want to be seen as weak and insists on using Nolon's abilities to mend her severe injuries.
- Dain is upset about Violet's decision because he cares for her and doesn't want to see her get hurt any more. He leaves before the mending procedure begins.
- Despite the immense pain, Violet insists on going ahead with the mending. She blacks out from the pain shortly after it begins.
- After the mending, Violet returns to the barracks and finds a journal from her deceased brother Brennan hidden under her pillow. The note tells her it can save her and that he didn't want her to die.
- Violet decides to follow Brennan's advice in preparation for upcoming battles. The chapter ends with Violet devising a plan for survival.
