Summary
- Dirk Struan receives a letter from Mary Sinclair inviting him to her party
- Brandy is watching them irritably from across the track
- Captain Glessing and Commander Turnbull discuss a problem with pirates caught on a British frigate off the coast of Aberdeen
- Turnbull argues for a civil trial, while Glessing believes it should be a naval trial
- Longstaff decides it should be a civil trial and asks for the documents to be sent to him to sign the sentence once the pirates are convicted by the jury
- Turnbull objects to the idea of hanging the pirates, as it would not be legal
- Longstaff suggests turning the pirates over to the Chinese authorities for punishment, but Glessing is hesitant to do so as it would set a bad precedent
- Longstaff decides to postpone the decision until the next day
- Culum and Tess are dancing at the party
- Brock Struan and Gorth discuss the potential benefits of a marriage between Culum and Tess for the Noble House
