The Eel Ring

Summary

• Tova receives a surprise visit from her friends Janice and Barb on her last day of work. They give her a fish-shaped cake to celebrate her retirement.
• Tova's cat, Cat, climbs onto Barb's lap, despite Barb insisting she is a dog person. Tova hints that Barb could adopt Cat, as the cat cannot accompany Tova when she moves.
• That night, Tova cleans alone on her last shift at the aquarium, bidding goodbye to all the creatures there. She notices that Marcellus, her favorite octopus, is missing from his enclosure.
• Tova spots Marcellus lying in front of the main door of the aquarium, his health clearly deteriorating. She revives him by pouring water from his tank onto him and places him in a bucket with water.
• Next to where Marcellus was laying, she discovers a high school ring belonging to one Erik Ernest Lindgren Sullivan ('EELS'), which she believes Cameron threw into the eel tank. She also believes this ring could somehow be connected to Daphne Cassmore.
