At dawn, Tova cleans her nearly emptied house and wrestles with her looming noon move-out. Though approved for accelerated check-in at Charter Village, she no longer intends to go there and considers staying with friends while she decides what comes next.

Cameron arrives unexpectedly, apologizes for leaving, and asks when Terry starts so he can speak with him in person. Tova reveals she took his resignation note, meaning Terry doesn’t know he quit. She then gives Cameron Erik’s class ring and explains the engraving—Erik Ernest Lindgren Sullivan—confirming Cameron is her grandson. They embrace and share relief. Cameron abandons California, admires the house his great-grandfather built, and learns it has been sold.

Tova says she won’t move to Charter Village despite the sale and invites Cameron to see Erik’s old room. Amid memories, Cameron asks how Tova endured Erik’s loss; she admits you never fully recover, but you move on.

Cameron notices an odd floorboard, pries it up, and finds petrified snack cakes and a bundle wrapped in one of Tova’s mother’s tea towels. Inside is Tova’s missing Dala Horse, flawlessly repaired—clear evidence Erik had fixed it and hidden it years ago. Tova, moved, hands the Dala Horse to Cameron, linking him to his heritage.

When Cameron asks how the ring returned, Tova simply says, “Marcellus.” With his job technically intact thanks to the hidden note, Cameron plans to meet Terry at ten and make amends as grandmother and grandson begin to reimagine their future.
