A Big, Bold Lie
Contains spoilersOverview
Cameron spars with Ethan after asking for a manager job and is rebuffed, revealing Ethan’s efforts were to help Tova find closure. Cameron’s fabricated developer persona pays off with a sudden meeting with Simon Brinks. He cancels his paddle date with Avery through Marco and heads to Seattle, deepening tensions and risk.
Summary
At Ethan’s house on laundry day, Cameron idly plays guitar and notices Ethan unusually dressed for interviews. Ethan explains he must hire a temporary day manager because Melody Patterson’s child is ill. Stung, Cameron asks to be considered. Ethan declines, citing the need for experience but offers to teach Cameron the business over time.
Feeling dismissed, Cameron lashes out, accusing Ethan of gossip and meddling. Ethan counters that he was acting for Tova’s sake, to help her find closure. The exchange ends tensely, and Cameron retreats to his camper.
After a nap, Cameron gets a call from Michelle Yates of Brinks Development: his earlier deceptive messages have yielded a same-day meeting with Simon Brinks in Seattle. He accepts, noting the basement location, then calls Terry to take the afternoon off and asks about more permanent cleaning work; Terry distractedly agrees.
Before leaving, Cameron stops at the paddle shop to tell Avery but finds only her son, Marco, pricing gear. Cameron asks Marco to relay his apology and cancellation. Marco flatly accuses him of standing Avery up. Choosing the opportunity with Brinks, Cameron departs at four and drives toward Seattle.
