A Silver Tray of Honey Cakes
Summary
- Nora has found herself in an alternate life where she is a famous musician who has fans all over the world. These fans are so dedicated that some even ask her to sign their bodies for tattoos.
- One fan in particular, Francisco, tells Nora that her song "Beautiful Sky" saved his life. Nora is surprised and touched by the influence of a song she wrote in university on a person in another country.
- She begins to believe that this glamorous life was meant to be hers and is far superior to her previous existence, riding the bus and struggling to pay rent.
- As Nora makes her way into the hotel where she will be staying, she realizes that everyone is focused on her. She finds that the rest of her band is in the hotel bar, but her brother is missing.
- An older man named Marcelo, who seems somewhat intimidated by her, introduces himself and thanks her for agreeing to be interviewed. Filming equipment is on hand to record the interview, but it is ultimately decided to hold the interview in Nora's suite for more privacy.
- Concerned about Nora seeming "different", Joanna, presumably her manager or assistant, continually checks on her and oversees the preparations for the podcast interview.
- Inside her luxurious hotel suite there is a delivered bouquet of flowers from the hotel manager and a tray of Brazilian honey cakes. Despite a diet imposed by someone named Harley, Nora considers indulging in the cakes.
- Joanna informs Nora about ongoing fires in Los Angeles, potentially threatening her house there. Nora is conflicted on whether to be enthused about owning a house in LA or worried about the fires.
- The Brazilian podcast hosts set up their equipment in her suite, and Joanna reassures Nora about the popularity of the podcast, stating that the numbers and demographics make it really worth doing.
