Chapter LXII

Summary

• The character has a meeting with Principalis Veridius to discuss their team for the Iudicium. Despite surprises and changes, the character ended up picking two people, Callidus Ericius and Eidhin Breac.
• Veridius warns the character not to discuss the meeting's details with the chosen teammates as it could lead to expulsion and disqualification from the Iudicium. The character also enquires about a person named Belli.
• Veridius also asks the character about their Labyrinth training and caution them not to push themselves too hard. The character leaves the meeting feeling conflicted.
• Two days later, the character's friend and teammate, Eidhin, reveals his past and explains that honourable death is an important part of his tribe's culture. He also uncovers the betrayal of his own father that eventually led to his enrollment in the Academy.
• Eidhin, carrying a burden of betrayal and duty, declares that he cannot join the character in the Iudicium. Despite the character's disappointment, they respect Eidhin's decision.
• Another person, Aequa, is approached by the character to replace Eidhin in the team for the Iudicium. Although initially skeptical, Aequa agrees and they inform Veridius of the change.
• Aequa comes back shaken after a private conversation with Veridius, but confirms her participation in the upcoming Iudicium. Finally, the character feels a sense of relief for having everything in place.
