40. Sorin: Cold Metal

Summary

• Sorin chases a thief, having been instructed to retrieve a claw and kill everyone besides a specific dark-haired individual in a tower.
• After struggling with the thief, Sorin tackles them and they plead for their life, claiming it's not yet their time to die.
• Sorin hesitates to kill the thief, despite having six prior murders under her belt. She was trained to be unemotional in such situations, but she's begun to feel worn by death. The thief, in their desperation, asserts that they've saved many lives and that the vial in their hand will save many more.
• Sorin orders the thief and anyone associated with them to leave Vatra and never return, in exchange for their life. The thief agrees and Sorin retrieves the vial, leaving the thief alive.
• As Sorin begins to leave, she experiences a sudden pain and sees a strange rippling effect in the sky. She believes this to be a dangerous sign from "the gap between worlds."
• Sorin hears voices in her head, instructing her to hurry with the claw and hold something dangerous at bay. Following the instructions, she runs towards the rip in the Veil with the vial clenched in her hand.
