Chapter Twenty-Seven: A Conference. The Snab. No Disney Prince. Prince and Princess. The Pact.
Summary
- The chapter features six people and two animals discussing their next steps in a storage shed, and Charlie attends the conference, noticing everyone studiously avoided mentioning the name Gogmagog.
- Woody insists that Charlie has to lead the rebellion, believing that Charlie is the promised prince, heir of Adrian from the magic world. Charlie expresses his reluctance to lead the event due to his own fear and uncertainty.
- They discuss that they need to stop the Flight Killer who has turned the kingdom gray, and killed citizens who have not been affected by this transformation. The Flight Killer should not be allowed to open the "Dark Well" again.
- The group discusses that the best time to attack the "Flight Killer'' will be during the day, when his troops are weakest.
- Leah abruptly leaves the meeting with her horse Falada, clearly upset. Charlie tries to follow her but is advised by Claudia and Woody to rest.
- Woody tells a story about Leah and Elden's childhood, where they were ostracized by their siblings and took solace in each other's company.
- Charlie learns about a magical creature called the Snab, "The king of the small world", which helped him deliver a message to Claudia during his captivity. It turns out the Snab owes Charlie a debt for saving its life.
- Anxiety starts to build when they talk about the prophecy of the two "sky-sisters" kissing. It is said that every evil thing is set free to work wickedness on the world on this night. They fear the same might happen again and Elden might open the Dark Well.
- Claudia insists that it is Charlie, the "promised prince", who should kill Elden before he opens the "Dark Well". If he opens it, it's feared not only their world would be destroyed, but the monster might go to other worlds as well.
- The chapter begins with the main character alongside his companions Eye and Rades, discussing matters such as the strange phenomena in their world and speculation about the former's origins.
- Despite not possessing any special abilities to find Flight Killer, the main character acknowledges the urgency to stop Elden before the "moons kiss", an unexplained event associated with disaster.
- They continue their discussion and after an hour or two of waiting, Princess Leah emerges from the church. The group decides to follow her into the city.
- On the way, they encounter Snab, a red cricket, who leads them to Leah waiting near a gate covered in ivy. After tense conversation and convincing from the main character, she agrees to lead them to the Dark Well to confront and possibly avenge her believed-dead brother Elden, now turned villainous Flight Killer.
- The protagonist makes a promise to Leah that he will leave the fate of Flight Killer in her hands and that he and his companions will follow and obey her.
- The chapter ends with a pact made between them and the indication that their quest to stop Elden is soon to commence.
