Chapter 18

Summary

• Leah gets a phone call from Kyle just after midnight, expressing his worry because her home was empty and her car was gone.
• She informs Kyle that she had gotten scared after he told her about James Finley, and decided to stay in a motel instead of her possibly dangerous home.
• Kyle goes to visit Leah at the motel and they spend the night together.
• The next day, while still at school, Leah hears murmurs and sees the students whispering. A car was being pulled out from the lake behind the Tavern.
• It turns out it was Leah's missing car. Leaving everything behind at the school, she rushes to the scene.
• As her car is being pulled from the lake, she notices a darker shadow in the front seat and it turns out to be the body of a man, not of Emmy as she was expecting.
• The man in the car is James Finley.
