Summary

• Zoe appears to be a trusted, helpful individual and volunteers the information that the police have been waiting for a next of kin to do a more thorough search of Bethany's apartment.
• Bethany's apartment is sparse and clean, suggesting she was starting over after some event.
• Hidden in Bethany's apartment, the protagonist finds letters from prison sent by Bethany to a nameless person, full of threats, anger, and accusing the recipient of having abandoned Bethany.
• She also finds a letter stating that the sender will help her when she gets out. The protagonist suspects this is from Emmy.
• The protagonist finds an envelope with a new credit card, and her name (Leah Stevens) is on the front. Panicked, she searches the whole apartment to find any more hidden secrets.
• Zoe suggests another man, Liam, who might know more about Bethany. He denies knowing much about her, other than that she was a very private person.
• Upon returning home, she reflects on her own past, wherein she was accused of having 'something wrong' with her.
