Chapter Twenty-Four
Summary
- The chapter begins with Bryce learning that she had saved Micah Domitus, the Archangel, during a particular incident in an alley. She discovers the situation was kept secret for Micah's reputation.
- Bryce becomes upset that she wasn't told she saved Micah, as she had spent time worrying over his well-being in hospitals and asking for updates on his recovery. She feels aggrieved that her role in the situation, and her ability to make a positive difference, was disregarded.
- Hunt, who was with Bryce, apologizes and then mentions that she was a suspect in a situation, angering Bryce further. They argue and Hunt flies away, leaving Bryce alone.
- Bryce goes for a run to clear her mind.
- After her run, she approaches a place called the White Raven, an alcove where she exchanged final messages with her friend, Danika. Bryce reflects on cheerful images of Danika and her pack, and a painful memory of a devastating accident between them and a truck.
- The memory reveals that Bryce and Danika had a close bond, and ended with a hint at a disastrous event involving an approaching threat and bullets.
- Following the memory, Bryce looks at a photograph of a happy Danika, only hours before her tragic end. Hunt's presence again rustles above, but Bryce ignores him and heads into a club.
