Chapter Seventy-Four
Summary
- Bryce is upset but also somewhat relieved that her secret of being a bastard princess is out, but only a few, including Hunt, know about it. Fortunately, the press remains oblivious.
- She is deeply affected by Hunt's absence, having torn up the check containing her centuries-old debts upon knowing he was taken away.
- Even though she can detect Hunt's presence in the Summit's opening procession, she feels miserable and helpless due to her inability to aid him.
- She feels regret for mishandling previous situations, including failing to purchase Hunt's freedom and substituting herself in his place. She feels responsible for his captivity.
- Bryce tries to maintain her emotional strength by surrounding herself with things that remind her of Hunt, such as sleeping in his room and wearing his t-shirt.
- She receives an envelope from the Comitium containing a reserved note from Isaiah and a white opal that Naomi found on the barge. Isaiah informs her that Hunt is sorry.
- While feeling lonely, she maintains a supportive conversation with Lehabah, a sprite who comforts Bryce by assuring her that they will conquer this difficult time together.
