Chapter Thirty-Two
Summary
- Hunt and Bryce attempt to look through Danika's location data from Declan and cross-reference it with her own list and the murder scenes, but they don't find anything useful.
- Hunt discusses his interest in a sunball game with Bryce, surprising her with his 'ordinary' interests, which counters her image of him as the 'Shadow of Death.'
- Hunt receives a phone call from his boss, Micah, about a job he has to do. Micah reminds him about his place in the hierarchy.
- Hunt goes on to do his job, which is executing a male cougar shifter who had committed horrific acts. He does it mechanically, removing his own identity while performing his duty.
- Hunt has a lengthy shower back at the barracks, trying to wash away the aftermath of the execution.
- Afterward, he returns to Bryce's apartment where she tries to engage with him, though he is still too stunned from the execution to really react. She quietly tells him that she has recorded the sunball game for him to watch.
- Hunt enters his room, overwhelmed, and doesn't respond further to Bryce.
