Chapter Thirty-Three
Summary
- The character, Hunt, enters the Oracle's black chamber which smells of sulfur and roasted meat, due to natural gases and a pile of smouldering bull bones used as a ritualistic offering.
- There, he encounters the Oracle, a fiercely beautiful and mysterious Sphinx, who challenges him with her ancient wisdom and mystical aura.
- Despite his apprehension and wariness, Hunt asks the Oracle why someone would want 'Luna’s Horn'. The Oracle responds that the Horn can open a doorway between worlds, and despite legends saying otherwise, it can be repaired.
- The Oracle, however, does not provide Hunt with any information about who specifically is seeking the Horn or how it can be fixed.
- The Oracle confronts Hunt with his real name, Orion Athalar, which has not been spoken for two hundred years. She alludes to a memory of his mother, whose love he did not think he deserved because he was incapable of protecting her.
- Despite the Oracle's insinuations, Hunt declines her offer to tell him about his future and the future of Bryce Quinlan, a character of significant importance to him. He believes that information to be respective to the person in question.
- The Oracle eventually dismisses Hunt and warns him to stay away from Bryce Quinlan before vanishing into vapors.
