Chapter Fifty

Summary

• Bryce is still grappling with Sabine’s news that Danika committed an apparent theft and she barely eats, speaks, or does anything else much except work and sleep, leaving Hunt grasping at how to help her.
• Bryce has not yet forgiven Lehabah for her actions that led to this devastating information, and Hunt can sense her friend's remorse, but doesn't know how to comfort her.
• Hunt wrestles with his feelings for Bryce, believing his romantic interest in two will complicate matters.
• While Bryce's cousin Ruhn comes to visit them, he discusses the history of the Starborn Prince and their magical artifacts, as well as trouble being stirred by fellow members of their cause. They also discuss the possibility of a synthetic healing magic and how it could potentially be used to repair the Horn of the First Star.
• Bryce and Hunt receive a message containing photographs and evidence of bodies ravaged in a similar manner to how Danika was killed - they conclude that the kristallos beast may not be the only demon at play.
• Bryce decides they need further assistance to decipher what's happening and has someone in mind, but warns Hunt it may not be welcome news.
