Chapter Fifty-One

Summary

• In this chapter, Bryce and Hunt prepare to summon a demon in Bryce's apartment, despite Hunt's reservations. They create two circles with obsidian salt, which Bryce had ground down earlier, and plan to hold the demon in place using the salt.
• Bryce seeks direct information about the demon that killed her friend Danika. Despite Hunt's protests, she maintains that summoning a demon is the quickest way to obtain this information.
• The room's temperature begins to drop and a demon named Aidas soon appears. Despite Hunt's fear and distaste, Bryce greets the demon without flinching. It becomes known that Bryce has met Aidas before when she was young.
• Aidas gives a hint about what could have killed Danika, telling them to "run the tests again" and "find what is in-between." He also mentions that Bryce should "Make the Drop", all before disappearing.
• Bryce then contacts her friend Declan and asks if there are any tests they could re-run. They discuss a potentially vital test called the 'Mimir', which was not performed during the investigation into Danika's death. This sparks Bryce's anger as the test was avoided on a direct order from the Autumn King.
• Bryce, fueled with rage at this new revelation, storms out of the apartment leaving Hunt bewildered.
