Chapter Forty-Six

Summary

• In Chapter 46, Hunt is attacked by a kristallos (demon), his power fades due to the demon's venom and he struggles to fight it off.
• Bryce manages to get to Hunt's gun, but the demon anticipates her move and attacks. Hunt distracts the demon, and Bryce shoots it as Hunt plunges a knife into its skull, killing it.
• Later, medics arrive to treat Hunt's wounds and remove the venom. Hunt's power returns after the venom is removed.
• Bryce struggles to understand how she and Hunt were able to kill the seemingly powerful demon so quickly, prompting Hunt to suggest that they share their suspicions about Sabine (who they believe sent the demon to them) with Micah, the Archangel.
• Micah arrives and Hunt tells him about their suspicions of Sabine, their theory about the Horn possibly being repaired, and the demon attack. Micah demands that they gather more evidence before he takes action against Sabine.
• Bryce and Hunt leave the scene, and Ruhn (Bryce's brother) arrives soon after and finds the remains of the demon. Ruhn meets with a medwitch from a clinic, who cautions him against touching the demon's blood and tells him that she has potential research for him based on a previous conversation they had.
• The chapter ends with Ruhn and Flynn discussing the identity of the witch, who disappears into the night sky after their conversation.
