Meanwhile, Bryce commits to vengeance, accepts Hunt’s protection, and keeps the case quiet as Jesiba insists business comes first.
Summary
On the gallery roof, Micah presses urgency and authorizes unorthodox means, confirming Bryce’s involvement. When Hunt asks about terms, Micah demands the killer alive if possible and then offers a private bargain: solve the case before the Summit and Hunt’s debt drops to ten remaining assignments. He orders strict professionalism regarding Bryce and departs.
Hunt and Isaiah debate the offer and the looming arrival of Sandriel and Pollux. To keep Hunt away from them and focused, Isaiah plans to station him across from Bryce’s building for constant monitoring. Hunt agrees, still keeping Bryce on his suspect list, while Isaiah goes to confirm Bryce’s alibi with Prince Ruhn.
Downstairs, Bryce vents her frustration and pain before Jesiba appears on the vidscreen. Jesiba encourages revenge but insists client work not suffer, threatening consequences, and advises Bryce to keep Hunt close for protection. A call from Maximus Tertian’s father ends the exchange.
Alone, Bryce questions how the demon had targeted their apartment and what linked Danika and Maximus. She momentarily considers her secret job applications, then dismisses them to focus on the case. After revisiting Connor’s old messages, she renews her vow to find the killer, chooses secrecy per Micah’s order, and decides to warn Juniper in person.
