Chapter Sixty-Nine
Summary
- Hunt is currently in prison, devastated by the death of Justinian and Viktoria. He contemplates his unwanted regrowth of wings and the possibility of execution.
- He receives a surprise visit from an Archangel he recognizes, Sandriel, who taunts him with an analysis of his confiscated phone.
- Sandriel uses Hunt's phone to project images onto the TV screen, mostly of his time spent with Bryce. The photos reveal a side to Hunt that he didn't even acknowledge - one that embraced a normal life and was not consumed with vengeance.
- Sandriel uses the photos to mock Hunt, telling him that he could've secured his freedom with obedience instead of seeking revenge, and that he and Bryce could've pursued a peaceful life together.
- The Archangel takes his belongings and leaves, leaving Hunt in despair at what he might've lost.
- Bryce enters a bar where her brother Ruhn is drinking. She thanks him for looking out for her and they discuss her relationship with Hunt.
- Ruhn invites Bryce to his place for a sunball game in an attempt to reconnect with her. Bryce, although resistant at first, agrees on a trial basis, suggesting a new beginning for their relationship.
