Chapter Five

Summary

• This chapter is about Bryce partying at the White Raven with her friends Fury and Juniper. She indulges in drugs and drinks and dances.
• While she's intoxicated, she dreams of quitting her job at the gallery and dancing in the club forever.
• After the party, she struggles to get home due to her impaired state, but once she arrives, she realizes that her apartment door is destroyed and that there's blood everywhere.
• The chapter takes a dark turn when she realizes that her friends Danika, Connor, and Thorne have been brutally killed in the apartment by an unknown creature.
• She decides to chase the creature all the way to the Istros where it is feasting on another victim, an angel. She tries to fight off the creature with a table leg, but it escapes.
• Bryce is injured in the chase and manages to call for help using the angel's phone before passing out. She repeatedly provides the angel's phone number to the responder to allow them to track their location.
