Chapter 21: General Dreedle
In Chapter 21 of Catch-22, Colonel Cathcart is concerned about Yossarian's behavior, including his complaints about the number of missions required and his appearance at his medal ceremony naked after Snowden's death. Colonel Cathcart wants to find a way to solve the problems caused by Yossarian's mischief, but his commanding officer, General Dreedle, is indifferent to the actions of his men as long as they remain alive in sufficient numbers for military purposes. General Dreedle is more concerned with his attractive nurse and his son-in-law, Colonel Moodus, whom he hates and sometimes asks Chief White Halfoat to punch in the nose. The narrator also mentions that Colonel Korn once tried to undermine Colonel Cathcart by giving an elaborate briefing in an attempt to impress General Dreedle, but it failed to do so.
