Chapter 11: Captain Black

In Chapter 11 of Catch-22, Yossarian finds out that Nately's whore has been arrested and put in jail. Yossarian decides to visit her in jail to see if he can help her. When he gets there, he finds out that Nately's whore has become very popular with the other prisoners and has formed a gang. Yossarian is unable to see her and is confronted by the gang members, who threaten to beat him up if he doesn't leave. Yossarian decides to leave and bring Nately to see her instead. When Nately arrives, he is heartbroken to see his whore in jail and decides to stay with her. Yossarian tries to talk him out of it, but Nately is determined to stay with her. Yossarian eventually leaves, feeling guilty for not being able to do more to help Nately's whore.
