Chapter 36: The Cellar
In Chapter 36 of Catch-22, the chaplain is falsely accused of committing a crime and interrogated by a colonel. The only evidence presented is a forged letter signed by the chaplain's name. The chaplain confronts Colonel Korn about the required number of missions and plans to present the matter to General Dreedle. Colonel Korn informs the chaplain that General Peckem has replaced General Dreedle as wing commander and that he and Colonel Cathcart have the right to make the men fly as many missions as they want. They have also transferred Dr. Stubbs, who had offered to ground men who had flown more than seventy missions to the Pacific.
